Overview
Summer’s packed up and left, the air’s getting chilly, and winter is already peeking around the corner and what better way to mark the occasion than with the iconic mannygt‘s mod Christmas Lanterns SE ? (reuploaded by one of my all time favourites – toostruus )
I’ve been playing Skyrim since release, and no matter what other games I try, I always find myself returning to it year after year; downloading, tweaking, and building my perfect world. Until now, though, I had never taken the step into modding. Lately, every new game feels like eating plain toast. Bland stories, no flavor, and definitely not enough color to keep me interested. Meanwhile, Skyrim’s over there shouting, “Hey, remember me? I’ve got dragons, cheese wheels, and mods that can turn mudcrabs into Elvis.” Thanks to the incredible work of the modding community, the game often feels more like a modern release from 2027 than something from over a decade ago.
With that in mind, I’m proud to present my very first mod: Dragon Variety. I’ve always loved color and have felt an artistic pull, so I decided to channel that into creating unique and diverse dragon patterns for for your adventures across Skyrim, adding new layers of wonder to the game’s magnificence. My hope is that these designs bring even more life and beauty to the world of the Dovahkiin.
Only textures so Install / Uninstall at any time.
The Christmas Lantern mod works better with Vanilla tree mods like Enhanced Vanilla Trees SE (Other tree mods probably incompatible due to lantern placement from the original mod — sounds like a patch waiting to happen)
Legacy of the Dragonborn SSE has a floating tree in the entrance of the museum which you will need to remove with xEdit (very easy, there are tons of videos of how to do this online). I do have a version with reduced lanterns and additionally removed all the large trees in xEdit from all towns and villages to be able to use it throughout all seasons. I can share that version with anyone who wants it, although I’ll need to get permission first from manny. It is the version I am currently using for my playthrough.
This is my very first dive into modding — consider it a “tutorial quest”. Certainly not my best or most refined job (more like a scribble on a napkin), since most of the designs were AI-generated and then duct-taped together by me with additional designs. Expect future updates with shinier, higher-res textures and fewer “oops” moments as I slowly level up my modding skills. For now, it will have to do! Leave a heart if you like the mod 🙂 I hope you all enjoy. x o
(p.s. Be sure to swing by the legendary modders listed above and toss them an endorsement. Think of it as giving them a sweetroll of thanks)
